The Metropolitan Police have announced that they are launching an investigation into the parties hosted at Downing Street in May of 2021.
Speculation of large social gatherings at the Prime Ministers home began in early December and have escalated to a recent discovery that another party was hosted to celebrate Mr Johnsons birthday.
What parties took place?
- May 15th – Approximately 20 Downing Street staff members attended a gathering in which attendees enjoyed cheese and wine, this took place hours after Matt Hancock publicly asked the general public to “stick with the rules”. This image shared with the Guardian showed the Prime Ministers hypocrisy while the UK was still in lockdown

- May 20th – Leaked emails detail the organisation of a “socially distanced bring your own booze party” as the UK was still confided to their homes.

- June 19th – Despite a reduction in rules a surprise birthday party held for the Prime Minister by his wife Carrie Symonds broke rules being applied to the public. Approximately 30 people were supposedly invited to this gathering.
The investigation can only result in fines with no criminal consequences such as prison time is possible as a result of findings of misconduct with the Conservative party.
